Cults Percussion Ensemble (Vinyl)
Availability: In stock
Put together by Ron Forbes, a legendary percussion teacher, the Cults percussion Ensemble comprised a group of 11 to 14 year old female pupils, one of whom was Evelyn Glennie, who would herself go on to become a global percussion legend. Privately pressed in Scotland in 1978, this album marked her recording debut. The music is at times bright, at other a little sinister but always engaging. It’s an avant-garde delight that is part modern jazz, part ambient, part classical, part wyrd folk and would have served as the ideal soundtrack to one of the many ‘too scary for children’ kid’s TV dramas being produced in the 1970’s. Previously only available from the group in 1978, this is a welcome re-release of a rediscovered gem.
