Welcome to Pond Life, a fanzine dedicated to the magical and mythical land they call Carshalton. Except that it isn’t a myth, of course, it is a real place, very real in fact. However, what sets it apart from it’s suroundings is that it seems out of place, out of time; mysterious somehow. It is alive with creativity and is blessed with a community whose enthusiasm and talents seem to be limitless. And that is exactly what Pond Life aims to highlight, and to celebrate, and we will also aim to reveal it’s mysteries.
Inside you will find features about music, art, folklore and beer, and artwork from a hugely talented bunch of local artists. There are features about, and interviews with, notable local musicians and artists, including Danny George Wilson, George Langham, Geoff Pick, Helena Vaughan, Ian Bickerton, George Langham and the Machines Of Loving Grace, a history of the Straw Jack, and more besides, including a ghostly tale or two.
It’s 48 pages but we’ve really only scratched the surface. There may be more. Stay tuned …
